A clinical vision built around
how trauma is actually stored

I'm Poppy Birch — a registered psychotherapist and EMDR specialist. I built this practice for one thing: nervous system recovery for people who understand their trauma and are still living inside it.

The pattern I kept seeing — and couldn't ignore

Early in my clinical training, I kept encountering the same thing. Clients who had done years of therapy. Who could articulate their trauma clearly, trace their patterns back to their origins, explain exactly why they did what they did. And who were still stuck.

It wasn't that therapy had failed them. It was that the therapy they'd received was built for insight — and insight alone doesn't update a nervous system running on outdated threat information. Understanding what happened and processing how your body is still responding to it are two different things. Most therapy does the first. Very few approaches do the second.

So I built a practice around it — structured, sequenced, and tracked from intake to close. Not open-ended. Not vague. A defined path through the work that most therapy never provides.

How I Can Help

I help people move from understanding their trauma to no longer living inside it — through individual therapy for ongoing support, and a structured six-month EMDR protocol for trauma that hasn't moved with talk alone.

My Approach

Your whole history, not just your symptoms

Your first session maps what happened, when, and how your body learned to respond. Care is built from that — not from a checklist.

I work at the level where trauma is actually stored

Understanding what happened and processing how your body is still responding to it are two different things. I work at the nervous system level.

I stay in the work with you between sessions

Progress doesn't happen only in the room. I track symptom shifts, adjust pacing, and stay available between appointments — so momentum builds instead of stalling.

At the pace your nervous system can hold

Every session is calibrated to your window of tolerance. Moving forward when you're ready. Stabilizing when you're not. Nothing before its time.

Two Paths To Nervous System Recovery

Some problems need a place to talk them through. Others need a clinical process built specifically for how they're stored. The free consult will tell you which.

For trauma that hasn't moved

Six-Month nervous system recovery Protocol

A structured, time-bound clinical protocol for nervous system recovery. Your threat response is running on outdated information — EMDR is the clinical mechanism built to update it. Four defined phases. A clear endpoint.

For ongoing nervous system support

Individual Therapy

For anxiety, relational patterns, life transitions, and nervous system dysregulation that benefits from an ongoing therapeutic relationship. The right tool for work that needs continuity and time — not a protocol.

Not sure which is right? Book a free 20-minute consult — you leave knowing which direction makes clinical sense for what you're carrying. No commitment beyond showing up.
